How to Update Your Romance eBook (So You’re Reading the Latest Version 💕)
Share
Did you know that when indie authors update their books—fixing typos, adding bonus scenes, or improving the story—you don’t always automatically get the newest version?
If you’ve ever wondered whether your eBook is the most current edition, here’s how to check and update it on the most popular platforms.
📚 Amazon Kindle (Amazon)
On Amazon Kindle devices and the Kindle app, updates don’t always download automatically.
Option 1: Check for automatic updates
- Go to Manage Your Content and Devices
- Find your book
- If an update is available, you may see “Update Available”
👉 You can access it here: https://www.amazon.com/mycd
Option 2: Manually refresh
- Delete the book from your device
- Re-download it from your library
📌 Note: In some cases, you may need to enable automatic book updates in your account settings.
📚 Kobo (Rakuten Kobo)
On Rakuten Kobo devices and the Kobo Books app, updates are usually easier.
To update:
- Tap the Sync button on your device/app
- Or go to your library and select “Update” if shown

📌 Kobo often pushes updates automatically—but syncing ensures you’ve got the latest version.
📚 Apple Books (Apple)
If you read on Apple via the Apple Books app:
To check for updates:
- Open the app
- Tap your profile icon
- Scroll to Available Updates
If you don’t see an update:

- Re-download it from your library

📚 Bought Directly from Me (BookFunnel Delivery)
If you purchased your eBook directly from me, it was delivered via BookFunnel as an EPUB file. You can re-download your book from your BookFunnel library (https://my.bookfunnel.com)
To update your copy:
- Download the new EPUB file
- Remove the old version from your eReader/app
- Upload or open the new file on your device

💡 Pro Tips for Readers
- ✔️ Updates aren’t always automatic (especially on Kindle)
- ✔️ Deleting and re-downloading often fixes everything
- ✔️ You won’t be charged again for updated versions
- ✔️ If an author announces bonus content, you may need to update manually
💕 Why This Matters
Indie authors (like me!) sometimes update books after publication—whether it’s polishing the story, fixing errors, or adding extra content just for readers like you.
Taking a minute to refresh your copy means you’re getting the best possible version of the story.
