Some lies are meant to protect. This one might destroy them both.

In a world of hidden identities and enemies who refuse to let the past stay buried, sometimes the only way to survive is to disappear. But when the truth comes knocking, there’s nowhere left to hide.

Five years ago, Soren Halverson watched the woman he loved die in a fiery explosion—and blamed himself for every flame. He’s spent years drowning in loss, chasing the bottom of a bottle and the edge of something darker.

Officially, FBI agent Lacey Willette is dead. Faking her death was the only way to keep everyone safe… even if it meant abandoning the man she loved without an explanation.

But when she stumbles upon Soren in danger, instinct overrides caution.  What begins as a desperate intervention becomes something deeper. As old wounds reopen and long-buried secrets rise to the surface, Soren and Lacey are forced to reckon with questions neither are prepared for—about forgiveness, about calling, and about whether faith can survive after everything.

But the past doesn’t release its grip easily, and the dark secrets that forced Lacey into hiding are closing in. The man who once tried to kill her is still out there—more ruthless, more determined—and this time, he won’t stop until he finishes what he started.

To save her, Soren must step into a life he turned away from—and a faith he’s long abandoned.

Buy today and step into heart-stopping suspense and redemption that doesn’t come quietly—it fights, it heals, and it dares to believe that after everything, God can restore what was lost.

Tropes: Faked death, presumed dead/lost love returns, secret identity/hidden life, FBI/law enforcement heroine, grief-stricken/broken hero, rescue romance, danger still lurking, healing through love, faith journey, redemption arc, slow burn clean inspirational Christian romance

What Readers Say

“The heart of this story, for me, was the powerful and complex journey of forgiveness. The way the author weaved Soren’s faith and his desperate need to protect Lacey was brilliant.”

“Lacey & Soren’s romantic tension was a slow, delicious burn, the “will they/won’t they” stretched tight by years of history and unspoken feelings.”

“The writing style drew me in from the first page and made me care deeply about the characters.”

Note: After Everything is part of the Legacy Falls realistic Christian series but can be read as a standalone. It explores healing, resilience & forgiveness but addresses difficult experiences that may be triggering for some, including alcohol addiction, drug use and violence.

💙 Sample Chapter

Soren lifted his glass and watched the clear liquid tremble in the dim light.

Vodka. Cold, clean, and merciless. The ice had already melted, leaving faint rings of condensation on the polished mahogany bar—a small, ghostly mark that would vanish long before his pain did.

Five years today.

He brought the rim of the glass close to his lips, but didn’t drink. The sharp tang of alcohol rose to meet him, acrid and familiar. He stared into the glass as if it held some kind of answer, some reflection that might rewrite the past. But all he saw was his own hollowed-out gaze and his bloodshot eyes.

Lacey’s eyes had been green. Vibrant, laughing green.
And they’d gone out because of him.

The memory clawed up from the pit of his stomach, as vivid as if it were happening now—the heat of their argument, the sting of her voice, the stubborn tilt of her chin.

He’d said things he couldn’t take back, then stormed off. She’d gone back to the Iron Zebra and then…

Then the explosion.

And the emptiness.

The burn of regret hit harder than the vodka ever could. He took a swallow, forcing it down, feeling it ignite all the way to his gut.

“Here you go,” the bartender said, setting a fresh napkin beneath his glass with practiced ease. “You look like you needed that drink five minutes ago.”

Soren huffed a quiet, humorless breath. “Yeah.”

The man lingered, polishing a glass that didn’t need it. “You in town long?”

Soren shook his head. “Just passing through.”

“Where from?” the bartender said, not pushy—just conversational.

Soren hesitated, then said, “L.A.”

“Long drive.”

He shrugged, though the motion felt heavier than it should have. He hadn’t planned it. He’d just gotten in the car and… kept going.

The bartender’s gaze flicked over him, no doubt taking in the exhaustion, the wrinkled shirt, the way his hand hovered too close to the glass. But whatever judgment might’ve been there, he kept to himself.

“Well,” he said, sliding the glass back into place. “San Jose’s as good a place as any to land when you don’t know where you’re headed.”

Soren shifted on the barstool, the supple leather creaking beneath him, and glanced toward the back of the Fortune 47 lounge. The fake fireplace flickered in soft orange hues, reflecting off mirrored walls and expensive glassware. No danger of real flames here.
